SŌIE Silk Pillowcase — 22 Momme Mulberry Silk
SŌIE Silk Pillowcase — 22 Momme Mulberry Silk
One swap, made once, that you sleep on every night for years. 22 momme mulberry silk in a charmeuse weave — smooth enough that your hair and skin glide across it instead of dragging.
What changes from night one:
✓ No More Sleep Creases — Cotton grips your skin and holds it folded for eight hours. Silk's smooth surface lets your face move freely against the pillow, so you wake without pillow lines pressed into your cheek.
✓ Hair That Stays Smooth — Cotton catches your hair as you move in your sleep — silk lets it glide. Less friction means less frizz, fewer tangles, less breakage. Particularly noticeable on curly, textured, and colour-treated hair, where overnight friction does the most damage.
✓ Your Skincare Actually Works — Cotton is absorbent by design, and it does not distinguish between sweat and the serum you applied before bed. Silk absorbs very little by comparison, so your skincare stays on your skin.
✓ Naturally Hypoallergenic — Mulberry silk is naturally resistant to dust mites, mould, and common household allergens, without any chemical treatment.
✓ Thermoregulating — Cool against the skin in summer, warm in winter. The fibre moves heat and moisture rather than trapping it.

Common questions
What does "22 momme" mean? Momme (mm) is the traditional weight measure for silk, like thread count for cotton. It counts the weight in pounds of a 45" × 100-yard bolt. Most budget silk bedding sits at 16–19 momme; 22 momme is the weight generally considered the sweet spot for bedding — heavy enough to drape and wear well, light enough to stay breathable. Below 19 momme silk tends to feel thin and snag easily.
Is it real silk? Yes — 100% mulberry silk, the long-fibre silk produced by Bombyx mori silkworms raised on a mulberry-leaf diet. It is not satin. "Satin" describes a weave and is usually polyester; mulberry silk is a natural protein fibre. Ours is certified to OEKO-TEX Standard 100, an independent test confirming the finished textile carries no harmful substance levels.
How do I wash it? Machine wash cold on a gentle or delicates cycle, ideally inside a mesh laundry bag. Use a pH-neutral or silk-specific detergent — regular detergents often contain enzymes and optical brighteners that break down protein fibres over time. Skip bleach and fabric softener. Hang or lay flat to dry away from direct sun. Silk dries quickly. If you iron, use the lowest setting on the reverse side.
Will the colour fade? Washed cold and dried out of direct sunlight, the colour holds well. Direct sun is the main cause of fading in silk.
Does silk sleep hot? The opposite of most people's expectation. Silk is naturally thermoregulating — the fibre's protein structure moves heat and moisture away from the skin, so it reads cool in summer and retains warmth in winter. It is a common choice for hot sleepers and for anyone dealing with night sweats.
Which side goes up? Both sides are silk, so it does not matter — there is no cotton backing to keep off your face.
